Black Magic

Grandma, it's ok.  I am not really talking about black magic, it's just a technique that I did for the first time!   :)

Phew, now that I am still on the sugar cookie list for Christmas this year with Grandma, let's talk about these two fun cards I did up for our Technique Class in August.  Now I know the Black Magic technique has been around for a long time, but this was the first time that I had the absolute joy of playing with it!

Truth be told I have been such a baby about trying it and I honestly thought it was just too much of a pain.  I am not a fan of coloring so I held out as long as I could.  Can I just say I am smacking myself upside the head now???   Ya, I'm ridiculous, because talk about EASY and FUN!

I don't want to give TOO much away since the ladies will be learning about this in a couple of weeks at our Technique Class, but I must say that I had a BALL making this card and I got an added bonus by being able to use those nifty dingle berries from Epiphany Crafts.  I have had them for months, but have yet to do anything with them...until now!  I need to find some of those wires to do for your wine glass dangles, how cute would THAT be?!   It would be like an added gift on the card!

For this cute card I used several different stamps.
The cute little glasses are from Stampin' Up! stamp set Happy Hour and then our Happiness Is stamp.  Can you guess which accompanying stamp I used for the inside?   (You truly are a smart cookie!)
Yep!  We used the Never Ending Happy Hour stamp.  I mean, hello!  It's PERFECT!  The whole card is just so bright and cheery and I am quite tickled with the effect.  Besides that, using the Black Magic technique made it feel like cheater coloring!  I couldn't really screw it up.  Happy Dance!

Lucky for me I wasn't finished playing with this technique.  I loved out much the colors popped and I wanted to use a stamp that would really showcase all of the colors and also scream summer!

As I was perusing through my plethora of stamps I came across the PERFECT set.  Another set from Stampin' Up! was going to be the ideal stamps to play with.

Honestly I am IN LOVE!

The colors, the pop, the colors of summer!   The white accents have got to be my most favorite part of this card.  I originally added a bit to the octopus, but after playing with it Mr. Octopus begged me to put him out of his misery so I flipped the paper over and started over.  I am so glad that I did!
The stamp set I used on the front of the card is called Summer Splash from Stampin' Up!  I am not sure if they still carry it or not, but if you have fallen in love with it like me you may be able to find it on eBay or Craigslist!

I also pilfered the Pursuit of Happiness stamp set and included "Live in the sunshine." because let's face it, it is PERFECT!

Those of you who live in New Mexico and are planning or thinking of coming to the Black Magic Technique class on the 7th, get ready for some FUN!

Until then,
Happy Stamping!
