Cupcake Pop Up Box Card - Tutorial

Hi everyone! Monica here from Taylormadecards4u to share with you two of So Suzy Stamps that were released this month along with a fun tutorial.

Pop up boxes have been the latest phase and I am sure you have seen them "Pop Up" all over the internet. I have to admit, when I first saw these, I was a bit intimidated. But like anything, if you take it step by step, it does not seem so difficult in the end.

Shopping list

So here we go...

Cutting and Scoring
  1. Cut cardstock to 8.5" x 12". Score on the long side at 2.75", 5.5", 8.25" and 11"
  2. Cut off a 2" x 12" strip, and set it aside. this will be used later
  3. Turn the 6.5" x 12" panel a quarter turn to the left, and score at 2.75"
  4. Cut down 2.75" to this score line along each of the 4 perpendicular score lines
  5. At the 11" score line, cut in at a slight angle up from the edge of the cardstock to remove the excess above
  6. Cut the 2" x 12" strip at 4.75" from the end with the 1" score line. cut the strip in half the long way to create two strips, 1" x 4.75"
  7. Both strips should be scored at 1 from each end. Fold both tabs back
Decorating the box
  1. Cut patterned paper to decorate each panel as follows:
    1. (1) inside back panel - 2.5" x 3.5"
    2. (3) lower panels (outside only) - 2.5" x 3.5"
    3. (6) upper panels (sides and front, inside and outside) - 2.5 square
  2. Cut (1) 2.5" x 6.25" outside back panel from white cardstock
  3. Center and adhere each panel
Putting box together
  1. Fold the decorated card on the 5.5" score line and attach the tab inside with adhesive
  2. Apply adhesive to the end tabs of the 1" x 4.75" strips and adhere them to the inside of the opened box, aligning them with the top of the opening. Turning both tabs toward the outside front or back of the box will help ensure straight placement
  3. Stamp cupcake stamp and allow to dry. Once the image is completely dry, fussy cut around the image. do this 4 times.
  4. Adhere one of the cupcake images to the front of the box
  5. Adhere the other three cupcake images to the strips. If you want the cupcakes a bit higher, you can attach the cupcakes with .5" strips of acetate
  6. Add skittles to top of cupcakes
  7. Cut Beautiful cupcake sentiment with fancy scissors and attach to back panel
Finished card fits in a 6" x 9" envelope.

I promise if you just take one step at a time, you will find it is not overwhelming at all. In fact, I was surprised at the simplicity of the design. Pure genius! I wish I would have thought of it.
