Mermaids Under the Sea

Hi everyone! Jennifer here from Caffeinated Papercuts with a card I started while visiting the amazing Suzy in New Mexico (be jealous. oh so jealous).

This is kind of two projects in one, so I've split my supply lists in half for you - one for the amazing mermaid metal ATC and one for the card base.

I'm feeling all artsy again with how this came out...LOL The center is one of the new sheet metal ATC cards coated with various StazOn Midi inks and the GlazOn to seal them all in. Let me tell you, it is so much fun to make these!

The how-to is pretty simple - you just apply it one layer at a time. So remove your blue plastic coating, grab a sponge and your first StazOn color. Apply in nice, wide strokes and let dry. When it's set, add on your GlazOn same way. Let dry. Rinse and repeat until you're happy with your colors!

Once my ocean was built, I stamped the lovely Mermaid Lying Down (who fits perfectly on an ATC, by the way!) in the Jet Black. One last layer of GlazOn and then it was time to bling her out! I wound up using a mix of two different The Ton sequins...ok, so Suzanne stole mine and I stole hers. It was hilarious. Once I had them where I wanted them, I glued them down with some Glossy Accents and added a few bubbles for texture. My mermaid was ready!

Now that she was all done, I needed a card base to put her on. That part left me thinking for a bit; she couldn't have just anything. In the end I did what I usually do - created my own background with the Seaweed, Starfish, and Bubbles. But since it's Under the Sea, I had to jazz it up a bit - Perfect Pearls to the rescue!

I stamped my seaweed at the bottom, then my starfish and my bubbles. I thought that piece of May Arts ribbon from my stash looked a bit like seaweed, so I added that in to tie the card together. And then...try not to be too astonished...I decorated the inside!

The embossed piece is one I had in my stash (probably Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, but I'm guessing here) which I then edged with Peacock Feathers and added my stamped panel to. I have to say, I love how the card came out!
