Chris Dayton - Design Team Challenge

Thank you so much for hopping through all of the Design Team's blogs. If you came here from Martha's blog, I am the last stop in the hop and don't forget to check back in at So Suzy Stamps to vote for your favorite card along the way. If you just popped in randomly, be sure and start at Suzy's post to get started on the hop.

For this card, I stamped the Wishing Well and the Because I Care sentiment onto 140# cold press watercolor paper with embossing ink and heat embossed it with Brutus Monroe Penny embossing powder.  For a very detailed image, I was very impressed with how well it embossed without losing those details!
I wanted to play off the vines that climb up the side of the well, so brought out my Sennelier l'Aquarelle tubes of watercolor paints and added some tiny dots of pinks for flowers. I gradually added a bit more concentrated color to add a bit of interest and shading.

I did the same with the leaves; first adding dots and building up color before painting in the vines to connect the dots.

Once it was completely dry, I trimmed my watercolor image to 4"x 5.25" and added a loose wash of very thinned watercolor to soften and give an aged look to my card panel.

Then it was adhered to a Gina K card base.

Thank you again for playing along today and don't forget to make sure you stop by and leave a comment for all of the other Design Team members to win the set of cards from the Design Team. The winner will be announced on March 6th on the So Suzy Stamps Blog.

  10. What an absolutely gorgeous card. Looking at it makes me want to sit the and take in the sights and sounds and smells of the flowers and the great outdoors. The way the image is embossed and then the flowers and leaves are beautifully painted and shaded with watercolours is absolutely perfect. And finally, the overall look the card takes on as a result of the light watercolor wash which gives it a perfectly aged look make it the gorgeous card that it is.
