Spring Flowers

I don't know about you, but I am ready for Spring!  The weather was absolutely beautiful on Saturday afternoon here in Northern New Mexico and I was actually able to sit on the patio and read a book!  Talk about heaven!  So when I was perusing through the cards Chris Dayton made for the month of February, I had to pick her beautiful flower cards, because they are just so stinking happy and remind me that Spring is just around the corner.

Let's start with this lovely pot of Violets!

  • For this violets card, I used Petal Flower 2 and stamped it multiple times on white cardstock, using So Suzy Stamps Thistle Thicket, Plum Passion, Lilac Love and Lucky Lavender inks.
  • I added a bit of shading with colored pencils and Gamsol on several of them for a bit of added dimension.
  • The centers of the flowers wet drawn in with a Y11 and Y17 Copic marker.
  • I used my Scan-n-Cut 2 to cut the blooms out.
  • I trimmed a piece of terra cotta colored cardstock and assembled a container and adhered it to a mint card base.
  • I stamped the Happy Mail in the right corner and began assembling my pot of spring color.
  • I used a G02 and a G05 Copic to sketch in a bit of greenery for stems and leaves, then glued a layer of flowers directly to the card base, and built up dimension by using bits of foam tape to pop up a few layers of flowers.

Next up we have this lovely little bouquet of flowers that I absolutely LOVE!

This little bouquet of flowers uses two of our Petal Flower stamps; Petal Flower 1 and Petal Flower 2.  With Easter coming up, how cute would these cards make as lovely Spring inspired Easter cards?
