I Am the Storm

Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful winter day here in Upstate NY!

Yeah, I'm pissed about that, too...stupid snow in April. My daffodils are NOT IMPRESSED. You know the only storms I like? The ones I create with ink blending and stencils.

This is one of my favorite new sentiments from the April release - it's encouragement and empowerment all rolled into one. But I needed a storm to go with it, so off to Google I went for storm pictures to get color ideas. My favorites were of lightening striking and had pinks, purples, and blues, so off I went!

I did this in two steps - the base layer, then the stencil layer. My base layer from bottom to top, lightest to darkest, went Milled Lavender, Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac and Stormy Sky. Then I popped the Clouds stencil on and used the next darkest in each level to create the clouds. So my clouds, from bottom to top, went Shaded Lilac, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans.

The sentiment I intentionally stamped in three different colors; dark gray for the devil's part, a lighter gray for the warrior's text, then a deep black for her answer. In my head it's the devil whispering sternly, with the warrior replying calmly but deeply to overpower the devil. (Have six cups of coffee, and then it totally makes sense.) To draw your eye to the sentiment, I added in some Nuvo Crystal Drops and finished off the panel with a faux stitched border.

The inside got coordinating patterned paper, more Crystal Drops, and my other favorite sentiment of Don't Give Up. Little words, powerful statement.

Don't forget we are still accepting applications for our Design Team calls through April 15th - details here.

Supplies Used:
Clarity Stencils - Clouds
Devil Whispers
Don't Give Up

Happy Crafting!
